Text tagging is a type of task that allows the participant to mark parts of a text using previously created tags.
It's a great task for identifying and evaluating key words and concepts in texts, advertisements and advertising campaigns.

Set up
To create any task, you must have Administrator or Moderator access. Using one of these accesses you must go to the activity's gear menu and click on "Edit Tasks". If you haven't yet created your first activity, you should do so before proceeding. Learn more about creating an activity.
1. Select "Text marking" from the list of tasks.
2.Use the text box to write the question statement, instructions and any other information you deem necessary. Adjust the text formatting using the icons (bold, italics, background colors, text colors, alignment, etc).
You can supplement your assignment statement with a video, photo or file. To do this, simply click on the "Media" button in the top right-hand corner of the text box and upload it.
3. You can also change the task (question) code using the rounded field next to the task list. The task code is important for identifying the question in the database and also for viewing the answers on the platform. Ow Voices will always place the screen "T" followed by a natural number in ascending order for the task codes.
Remember that the answer option code cannot contain special characters, spaces or just the number 0.
4. Use the text box to write or deposit the text to be marked. Then enter the parts of the text that can be marked by the participants by clicking on the "Mark text" button on the top right-hand side.
6. If you have chosen custom marking, define the descriptions and colors of the labels. Remember to choose different descriptions and colors for each label, so that the database can be read and analyzed more easily.
To make the marking of one or more tags optional, click on "Marking not compulsory". This way, participants can use only the tags they want to mark the text.
6. Set a maximum and minimum number of tags to be given by participants. Remember that for personalized markings, the participant can use the same label more than once.
7. You can add logic and conditions to your question to direct them to another one based on the answer given in the task. Although it's not possible to generate logic and conditions based on the answers in a text marking task, you can reference a previous task to generate jumps and conditions from it.
Default → define which task the respondent will be redirected to after answering the chosen task. Here you can add a jump or even choose "finish". This option will only be applied if the respondent does not qualify for the other conditions specified in "If you answer".
If you answer → add a logical condition for the flow of your activity.
8. Define the description of the comment box in the editor;
How will participants visualize this type of task?
This is an example of how this type of task looks to the participants.
On mobile devices, we offer a different view to improve the user experience.
Graphs and Tables
In the "Reports" menu, Administrators, Moderators and Observers can view graphs for all types of tasks. For custom text markup tasks, a graph will be generated for each selectable part of the text, with the labels differentiated by color. For simple text markup tasks, a single graph will be generated with the selectable parts of the text differentiated by color.
The table below the graph will display the answers in absolute numbers and percentages.
If you want to see all the selectable parts of the text in a single graph, use the customize function and choose the stacked bar graph.
How will I visualize this type of task in the database?
For Customized Text Marking tasks (with labels) the CSV/Excel export will display a column for each combination of text and label. Each row will display the label (answer) used to classify the part of the text (sub-question) selected by the participant.
In CSV/Excel code exports, the rows will display the code that corresponds to the label the respondent selected. For exports using the answer label (text), the rows will display the exact name of the label the respondent selected. Remember that if the label name is a number, the export will be a number (not necessarily the same as the response code).
Remember this when reading your database: Empty cell → the question has not been shown to the participant. Cell with only the number 0 → the participant did not select that answer option.
