Video is a type of task in which participants have to share videos with the community.  In general, these files are directly related to a topic of interest to that community (i.e. 'a presentation video', 'a video recounting an experience', etc.). We allow respondents to upload up to 5 videos in a single task

This type of task is used to request more precise information about situations, products and locations. From the context of the community, it is possible to ask respondents to upload videos of the products they use, their environment, etc.

Set up

To create any task, you must have Administrator or Moderator access. Using one of these accesses you must go to the activity's gear menu and click on "Edit Tasks". If you haven't yet created your first activity, you should do so before proceeding. Learn more about creating an activity here.

1. Choose "Video" from the list of tasks.

2. Use the text box to write the question statement, instructions and any other information you deem necessary. Adjust the text formatting using the icons (bold, italics, background colors, text colors, alignment, etc).

You can supplement your assignment statement with a video, photo or file. To do this, simply click on the "Add Media" button in the top right-hand corner of the text box and upload it.

3. You can also change the task (question) code using the rounded field next to the task list. The code of a task is important for identifying the question in the database and also for viewing the answers on the platform. Ow Voices will always place the screen "T" followed by a natural number in ascending order for task codes.

Remember that the question code cannot contain special characters, spaces or just the number 0.

4.  Choose whether or not participants can add subtitles to the videos they upload. Click on "Add subtitles" to enable this option.

5. Once the "Add subtitles" option is enabled, choose whether the subtitles should be mandatory or not. Click on "Mandatory subtitles" to enable this option.

8.  Define the description of the comment box in the editor.

How will I visualize this type of task in the database?

The CSV/Excel export will display a column with the text of the question and the rows will display the links to download the videos sent by each participant. The links are identified by numbers and separated by brackets. To download the content, simply copy the link, paste it into a browser and press the "Enter" key.

The subtitles placed by the participants for each medium will be identified and described in the next column.

Remember when reading your database:
Empty cell → the question was not shown to the participant.
Cell with only the number 0 → the participant did not select that answer option.
