Drag and drop is a type of task in which items are sorted into groups in order of preference using drag and drop or point and click movements.
This type of task is great for cases where you want to impose categorization on a list of items in an interactive way.

Set up
To create any task, you must have Administrator or Moderator access. Using one of these accesses, you should go to the activity's gear menu and click on “Manage” and then “edit task”. If you haven't yet created your first activity, you'll need to do so before proceeding. Learn more about creating an activity here.
1. Choose “Drag and Drop” from the list of tasks.
2. Use the text box to write the question statement, instructions and any other information you deem necessary. Adjust the text formatting using the icons (bold, italics, background colors, text colors, alignment, etc).
You can supplement your assignment statement with a video, photo or file. To do this, simply click on the “Add Media” button in the top right-hand corner of the text box and upload it.
3. You can also change the task (question) code using the rounded field next to the task list. The task code is important for identifying the question in the database and also for viewing the answers on the platform. OW Voices will always place the screen “T” followed by a natural number in ascending order for task codes.
Remember that the answer option code cannot contain special characters, spaces or just the number 0.
4. Choose whether the cards (items to be dragged) will contain Texts only, or Texts and Images. Click on “Image” to enable images.
6. Define the description of the cards and groups. You can add more than one card more quickly using the “Add” button.
7. If necessary, change the codes for the answer options (cards and groups) using the rounded fields next to them. The answer option codes for a task are important for identifying and processing the answers in the database. OW Voices will always put natural numbers in ascending order for the answer option codes.
Remember that the answer option code cannot contain special characters, spaces or just the number 0.
8. Define the description of the comment box in the editor.
How will the participants visualize this type of task?
This is an example of how participants visualize this type of task.
On mobile devices, we offer a point-and-click option to improve the user experience.
Graphs and Tables
In the “Reports” menu, Administrators, Moderators and Observers will be able to view graphs for all types of tasks. For Drag and Drop tasks, a graph will be generated for each group, with the card options differentiated by color.
The table below the graph will display the answers in absolute numbers and percentages.
If you want to see all the groups in the same chart, use the customize function and choose the stacked bar chart.
How will I view this type of task in the database?
The CSV/Excel export will display a column for each combination of card and group. In CSV/Excel code exports, the rows will display the code that corresponds to the group the respondent selected.
For exports using the response label (text), the rows will display the exact name of the group the respondent selected. Remember that if the group name is a number, the export will be a number (not necessarily the same as the response code).
Remember when reading your database: Empty cell → the participant was not shown the question. Cell with only the number 0 → the participant did not select that answer option.
